Tiptoe into the realm of pocket PCs and PDAs with the Sony Clie SJ22 PDA. It’s similar to other Sony Clie PDA models but lacks a few of the software extras you come to expect. However, it is affordably priced and a perfect fit for the beginner.
The Sony Clie handheld PDA and pocket PC weighs less than five ounces and is rather stout. However, it is still rather small and can easily be toted in a shirt pocket or jacket without weighing you down. While the display at 2.9 inches is smaller than other PDAs or pocket PCs, it does appear larger because the bezel was shrunk on the device. Another great feature is the rechargeable battery on the Sony Clie SJ22 that can even be removed thanks to the screw panel in the back. There is a scroll rocker and the four standard buttons for accessing applications. Because the buttons are bigger on the Sony Clie SJ22, this unit is easier to use and manipulate. Another feature is that the cover flips over and is also detachable. There is no cradle but the Sony Clie SJ22 includes a USB cable, adapter and power cord for charging. You can however, purchase a cradle separately as an accessory just like you can get a Sony Clie PDA battery as a spare. Another accessory to look into is a Sony PDA Clie aluminum case if they are available to you. They can protect your device from wear and tear. This unit was already a relatively cheap Sony SJ22 Clie PDA pocket PC. However, since it is a while back, you can expect to find a discount Sony SJ22 Clie PDA pocket PC through a number of purchasing venues. Other features you can expect from the Sony Clie SJ22 include a Palm 4 operating system along with a Dragonball processor with 33 mHz. It also has 16 MB of RAM and you can add a memory stick to the expansion slot located at the top of the unit if needed. The display has a high resolution and you can also edit photos using the Clie paint software. You can also view and edit Word and Excel files. There is also some snazzy software that allows you to organize your contacts and even set daily alarms as reminders to yourself. Overall, this Sony Clie SJ22 is a good buy for the beginner. It has the basics you need to get you integrated into the pocket PC and PDA market.
