When it comes to the Blackberry 8800 – PDA, GPS and portable phone and office all rolled into one – one could say that you almost don’t need to go into the office any more! It’s that versatile! What’s really great is that the Blackberry 8800 did away with the thumbed wheel and now has a trackball for all your navigating needs for this Blackberry 8800 handheld PDA. For those stuck in the past few years, it only takes about an hour or two to become accustomed to this new navigation feature.
The really cool thing about the Blackberry 8800 PDA model is that it can also double as a GPS system for a nominal fee each month to use the software to enable it. If you travel a lot for business, then this Blackberry 8800 is worth its weight in gold! You can even program addresses from your main contact list and there is even a search function if you are looking for a specific landmark or business. The slight drawback to this new Blackberry is that it is a bit larger than other models. However, you benefit from that through a larger screen at 2.4 inches, a Blackberry 8800 PDA battery with a longer life for talk time and a larger keyboard area for less typing screw-ups. The larger screen and keyboard area on the Blackberry 8800 PDA phone makes it easier to read and send emails as well as open and close different applications on it. Icons on the screen are a little larger too. The larger screen alone is worth it those users who hate to squint. With the Blackberry 8800, the walkie-talkie push to talk feature was easy to set-up and the service was pretty clear. Downloading basic attachments like Word, excel, JPEG and PDF formats was a breeze. The internet capabilities like browsing were fast and easy to work with too. Quality of the normal voice calls was good and the speakerphone feature was easily heard. The only drawback is that this Blackberry 8800 PDA phone does not have stereo Bluetooth capability; however, that feature is expected later this year with software updates. Because the Blackberry 8800 is fairly new, you will have to wait a bit to find some accessories you might want like the Blackberry 8800 aluminum cases. Plus, while this Blackberry 8800 is not a cheap PDA by any means, it is affordably priced under $300 in most cases. You can probably even find a discount Blackberry 8800 PDA if you were able to land a deal with your carrier. All in all, the Blackberry 8800 does what it sets out to do and then goes above and beyond. It’s a great buy for the traveling professional.
